DASH and the City of South Haven are working together to gather a consensus from downtown merchants regarding parking time limits for on street parking.
This effort will also pursue the possible installation of 30 minute spaces in each block of the downtown.
If you have comments regarding this effort or the survey that was distributed to all downtown businesses please post your thoughts here.

I don't think their should be any time resistrictions on the streets, it takes more than 30 min to do what ever it is that you are down town to do if you put a limit on it then I would be less likley to shop around , instead I would have to get back in my car to move it and therfore, would probably leave than to repark.
ReplyDeleteThe idea of limit 30 minute parking is a great idea for use in picking up a watch left for a battery install, or a prescription, take-out, etc. There should be only a few limited parking spaces, and the 30 min. limit should expire earlier M-Sat when most errands are probably completed. So that these spaces open for longer periods of time. Sunday should be unlimited parking w/o time restraints. The time limit that is in need of change is the two hour limit on SH city streets. Tell anyone that they can shop, eat or enjoy our city in a two hour time frame, and they must live in a one shop/restaurant town.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice new public restroom on the corner of Huron and Kalamazoo! But still amazed that a two story parking structure wasn't built which is still needed. Of course you may still have that option? Have you seen Holland's two story parking structure that is built as a low rise structure one block from town ... very nice.
